Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Build Better Live Happier is a licensed New Jersey general contractor with full liability and workers' compensation coverage. Proof of insurance is provided before any project begins, and we coordinate all town permits and inspections in-house.

How does pricing work?

After a free on-site consultation, we provide a detailed written proposal that breaks down materials, labor, and project management. There are no surprise change-orders — if scope shifts mid-project, every adjustment is documented and approved before work continues.

How long does a typical project take?

It depends entirely on scope. Bathroom renovations typically run 4-6 weeks. Kitchen renovations: 6-10 weeks. Major additions and whole-home renovations: 4-8 months. Custom new construction: 8-14 months. We give you a specific milestone-based timeline before we start, and weekly progress updates throughout.

Do I need an architect, or do you handle that?

We can work with your architect or coordinate the architectural work as part of our design-build delivery. For most kitchen, bath, and basement projects, in-house design is sufficient. For additions and custom homes, we partner with established Bergen County architectural firms — we'll recommend the right fit during your consultation.

Will I deal directly with Yakup, or with a project manager?

Both. Yakup leads the strategy and quality oversight on every project — he walks the site, approves the scope, and is your point of contact for major decisions. A senior project manager handles day-to-day coordination so you always have someone reachable. No call centers, no chains of subcontractors.

Yes — see our Projects page for case studies, and we're happy to arrange a walk-through of a recent or in-progress project (with the homeowner's permission) so you can see our finish work in person before committing.

What permits and inspections do I need to worry about?

Accepted Answer

None — we handle every permit and inspection in-house. Bergen County towns each have their own building, electrical, plumbing, and zoning requirements; we know them and pull the right permits before work starts. You'll see copies of every approved permit, but you won't be standing at the building department.

Do you offer financing?

We don't originate financing directly. Most of our clients finance major renovations and additions through home-equity lines or construction loans. We're happy to coordinate timeline and draws with your lender if needed.

What's your warranty?

We provide a written workmanship warranty on every project. Manufacturer warranties on materials (cabinetry, appliances, roofing, windows, etc.) are passed through to you. Specifics are in the project agreement before work begins.
